Erhai Lake is located in Yunnan Province, China.

Erhai Lake is a colorful yet serene landscape. It is the seventh largest freshwater lake in China and the second largest in Yunnan Province. Shaped like an ear, it is called "Erhai" (Er means ear, Hai means sea).

Located in northern Yunnan Province, about 265 km west of Kunming, it sits next to the ancient city of Dali and at the foot of the majestic Cangshan Mountains. Within the lake are three famous small islands: Jinsuo, Nanzhao, and Putuo, each steeped in unique historical and cultural stories. Surrounding the lake are ancient villages such as Xizhou and Youcai, along with many other smaller villages, creating a tranquil yet culturally rich atmosphere.

Attractive beauty

Winter at Erhai Lake presents a scene that is both majestic and serene, making it unforgettable for anyone who visits. As the cold wind blows from the lake, the rising mist blankets the area, transforming the lake's surface into a giant mirror reflecting the towering Cangshan Mountains in the distance. This mist envelops the landscape in a mystical veil, evoking both tranquility and romance.

On the lakeshore, daily life continues in the cold: small boats are moored silently, tea houses by the lake are filled with steam, and people, clad in thick coats, are still busy with their work. It is this contrast between the tranquil natural scenery and the simple pace of life that creates a vibrant picture. Every detail, from the sound of the wind blowing across the water to the soft light reflecting on each ripple, makes one want to slow down, to listen, and to feel more deeply.

Winter in Erhai Lake is where the cold becomes a catalyst for us to realize the warmth of life and people.

In stark contrast to winter, when summer arrives, Erhai Lake takes on a strikingly different appearance with its clear blue sky and brilliant golden sunshine. The roads along the lake become more bustling, flowers bloom in vibrant colors, and tourists flock there to enjoy the fresh air.

If winter brings tranquility, then summer is vibrant with life. It is this contrast that makes Erhai Lake a beautiful "lake-sea" year-round, where each season unfolds a unique story to tell.
