Amid the pine-covered hills and misty landscapes that define Dalat, a shared home at 67–69 Hung Vuong Street has accompanied hundreds of children on their journey toward adulthood. SOS Children’s Village Dalat provides a nurturing environment where children can grow, learn, and build their futures through care, compassion, and equal opportunities for development.

More Than Three Decades of Nurturing Young Lives

Since its re-establishment in December 1989, SOS Children’s Village Dalat has remained dedicated to its mission of caring for and supporting children in vulnerable circumstances. From just 36 children in its early days, the village has grown into a home for more than 400 children and young people.

Within the village’s 14 family homes and Youth Residence, SOS Mothers devote themselves to caring for and guiding the children through every stage of growing up. Family bonds are built through daily companionship - shared meals, words of encouragement, and the unwavering presence of caregivers who embrace the children as their own. 

Education: Opening Doors to the Future

Education has always been regarded as a cornerstone of every child’s development at SOS Children’s Village Dalat. Alongside formal schooling, supplementary tutoring programs are regularly organized to help children keep pace with their studies and develop their individual strengths and potential. 

For many consecutive years, the village has maintained a 100% graduation rate, with approximately 65% of students achieving good or excellent academic performance. After completing their secondary education, the children receive career guidance tailored to their abilities, interests, and aspirations.

From this shared home, generations of young people have gone on to pursue careers in education, healthcare, engineering, business, and service industries. Today, the village is proud to count two master’s degree holders, more than 60 university and college graduates, and many others enrolled in vocational training programs. These achievements demonstrate how access to education and a supportive environment can create meaningful opportunities and lasting change for a child’s future.

Nurturing Environmental Awareness Through Everyday Living

At SOS Children’s Village Dalat, education extends beyond the classroom and is woven into everyday life. SOS Mothers and caregivers encourage children to appreciate nature, care for their surroundings, and maintain a clean, green, and well-organized living environment. 

Carefully tended flower beds, tidy courtyards, and flourishing trees throughout the village reflect the collective efforts of the children themselves. Through simple daily tasks such as watering plants, pruning flowers, and maintaining shared spaces, they learn discipline, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for the environment in which they live.

Equipping Children with the Confidence to Step into Life

Alongside academic learning, children at the village take part in a wide range of skill-building activities, including football clubs, music and English classes, as well as workshops on gender equality, children’s rights, and protection from abuse. 

Through group activities, children develop communication skills, teamwork, presentation abilities, and problem-solving capacities. These essential skills help them grow in confidence and prepare for future studies, careers, and life beyond the village.
