DISCOVER LY SON - THE ISLAND OF VOLCANOES
Discover Ly Son Island - a special island formed from volcanoes, which possesses beautiful landscapes, unique sea island culture and honest people.

Located in the middle of the ocean, Ly Son Island appears as a precious gift of nature. But few people know that behind the poetic beauty of this island district is a special tectonic process of geology, history and people at the forefront of the wind and waves.

Are you ready for a journey to explore this interesting island? Let's find out with MLifeOn in the article below.

Special geographical location

Ly Son is an island district of Quang Ngai province, located about 15 nautical miles from the mainland, likened to a green pearl in the East Sea. With an area of only about 10 km², this island, although small, possesses special destinations that cannot be found anywhere else.

Ly Son appears like a green gem in the middle of the ocean

Not just a simple island in the middle of the vast ocean, Ly Son is also a harmonious combination of two special pieces. Big Island - the heart of Ly Son, where the majority of residents live, with small, simple roads, houses nestled by the sea and daily life closely connected to the waves. Meanwhile, Small Island has a pristine beauty, like a paradise in the middle of the ocean, where the smooth white sand meets the clear blue water, creating a strangely charming natural picture.

Beautiful scenery of Ly Son

Standing between these two pieces, people can feel the hustle and bustle of fishermen's lives while listening to the gentle sound of the ocean - a wonderful harmony that few places have.

The special thing about Ly Son lies not only in the landscape but also in the interesting formation process, a story deeply engraved in each layer of rock, creating a wild and attractive beauty.

The mysterious formation process

Millions of years ago, Ly Son was originally an underwater volcano. After many violent eruptions, lava flows gradually accumulated to create the shape of the island as it is today.

Currently, the island still has traces of 10 large and small craters, including 3 craters located on the seabed, 5 craters on the Big Island and 1 crater on the Small Island.

Among them, the two most famous craters, attracting many tourists and geological researchers, are Thoi Loi and Gieng Tien craters.

The first is Thoi Loi crater – This is the largest volcano on the island, with a peak height of nearly 170m, a base diameter of 1.4km, and a mouth diameter of about 0.35km. Currently, this crater has been used to build a freshwater reservoir, providing an important water source for residents on the island. The second is Gieng Tien crater – One of the remaining national monuments on the island, with a surreal natural landscape. This crater is about 86m high, with fertile red soil inside, creating conditions for lush green vegetation to grow.

These volcanic vestiges not only have scientific value but also create a majestic landscape, contributing to the unique beauty of Ly Son Island.

The mystery of Ly Son volcanic island

From seemingly dry lava flows, Ly Son has transformed into a poetic natural picture. The majestic basalt columns, clear blue beaches and steep cliffs are the products of natural formation over millions of years.

Some of the enchanting places of Ly Son that visitors cannot miss:

Thoi Loi Peak - A place to watch the beautiful sunrise and sunset

Standing on Thoi Loi Peak, you will feel the vastness of the ocean, blending with the majestic scenery of volcanic rock layers that have turned into natural wonders. This is the ideal place to welcome the early morning sunrise with the gentle golden sunlight creeping over the sea, or watch the romantic sunset as the sun gradually disappears behind the horizon. The space here is both wild and poetic, giving visitors quiet moments, enjoying the endless beauty of nature.

To Vo Gate – The Magical Relic of the Volcano

To Vo Gate is one of the typical symbols of Ly Son Island, a natural stone arch formed entirely from volcanic lava millions of years ago. With a height of about 2 meters, the soft curved structure of the arch creates a beautiful scene for visitors to take "virtual life" photos. When the early morning sunlight or sunset shines through the stone arch, the whole space seems to be dyed in a magical color, making anyone admire this unique beauty.

Small Island Beach – A green paradise in the middle of the ocean

If you are looking for a place to immerse yourself in the clear blue water, Small Island Beach is the ideal destination. Considered as a miniature Maldives of Vietnam, this beach has emerald green water, fine white sand and a beautiful view of colorful coral reefs. Coming here, you can enjoy the peaceful space, participate in coral diving activities, or simply lie on the sand, listening to the murmuring waves.

Small Island attracts with its poetic scenery

Every corner of the island bears traces of volcanoes, creating a unique landscape that cannot be found anywhere else.

The people here are at the forefront of the wind and waves

Perhaps the first thing that anyone who comes to Ly Son feels is the friendliness and openness of the people here. They not only welcome you with a gentle smile but are also willing to share stories about life on the island - about the days drifting at sea, the anticipated garlic seasons, or even memories of the heroic Hoang Sa army in the past.

Ly Son people are open and friendly

Each story told, each sparkling look of pride, makes visitors not only feel the beauty of this island, but also understand more about the people who have been attached to this place for generations. During the days staying in Ly Son, if you have the opportunity to go fishing with the people or participate in the garlic harvest season, you will see how hard-working, persistent, and how much love they have for this land. Although life is full of challenges, they still maintain an optimistic spirit, always living with the sea as an indispensable part of their lives.

Setting foot on Ly Son island, visitors not only admire the beautiful scenery but also feel the wildness but full of vitality of this place. Each ray of sunlight shining on the cliffs, each wave hitting the shore carries a story about millions of years of creation, about the people attached to the sea and islands through many generations.

Not only a tourist destination, Ly Son is also a witness to history and geology, giving visitors unique experiences that are hard to find anywhere else.
